The practice of treating animals with acupuncture was developed more than 5,000 years ago and is closely associated with human acupuncture, which is one the oldest forms of medical practice in the World.
The foundation of acupuncture is the balance and harmonious flow of vital energy, or chi, throughout the body. Energy travels through the body along pathways that are called meridians. When these meridians become blocked and energy cannot flow freely, then imbalances or illness are likely to appear.
The role of an animal acupuncturist is to assess the energetic state of each organ system and draw a systematic plan of treatment that is tailored to suit each animal's need and restore smooth chi to their system.
