FAQ’s
What should I expect on my first visit?
During your first office, you will be asked to complete a patient information form and health history. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. It’s helpful to bring with you any copies of previous tests, lab results and the names of any medications or natural supplements you are currently taking. The first visit will also include a verbal interview so that I can obtain a complete picture of your treatment needs and behaviors that may contribute to your condition.
How long are the appointments?
Your first office visit will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. Follow-up appointments generally last 45 minutes to an hour.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are metallic, solid, and hair-thin. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain. The insertion of the hair-thin needles may create a Qi sensation often described as a feeling of heaviness or pressure. Some patients may experience stronger Qi sensations than others depending upon the nature of your condition.
Is acupuncture safe?
Acupuncture is one of the safest treatment options available today. I only use the Clean Needle Technique which involves using a new set of hair-thin, sterile, disposable, non-toxic needles taken from a sealed package for each patient.
How many treatments will I need?
In general, the longer you have suffered from your condition the more treatments you will require to reestablish balance & health. After your initial consultation and evaluation, I will develop a specific treatment plan to meet your individual needs.
Is acupuncture covered by my insurance?
Acupuncture treatment is commonly covered by most insurance plans. You should check with your insurer before you start treatment to ensure that it will be covered for your condition.
