Acupuncture The practice of acupuncture was developed more than 5,000 years ago and is one of the oldest forms of medical practice in the World.
The foundation of acupuncture is the balance and harmonious flow of vital energy Qi (pronounced “chee”) throughout the body. Energy travels through the body along pathways that are called meridians or channels. Each meridian is associated with a specific physiological system and internal organ. Disease/illness is considered to arise from a deficiency or imbalance in Qi in these meridians and associated body systems.
Acupuncture works by the insertion of special sterilized disposable needles through the skin into underlying tissue at precise points on the surface of the body with the intention of reestablishing balance, harmony and health.
My role as an acupuncturist is to assess the energetic state of each organ system and draw a systematic plan of treatment that is tailored to suit each individual’s needs and restore smooth chi to his or her system.
